There is help to pass the Life in the UK test if you find reading and writing difficult – in this post I’m going to look at taking the test rather than studying for the test.
The first point is that you don’t need to worry about writing – there is no writing in the Life in the UK test; instead, you will be clicking on what you think is the correct answer to the multiple-choice questions that you will be presented with on a computer screen.
What about reading the questions in the test?
The answer to this is that when you arrive at the test centre you can ask to have a computer with a set of audio headphones to that you can hear the questions read out. So do make sure you ask for headphones on arrival at the centre.
There is another option that is mentioned on the government website https://www.lituktestbooking.co.uk/lituk-web/addValOptions
If you feel you require special arrangements, such as a reader and a scribe or if you wish to book a test centre for your own personal individual use this can be arranged.
The government website doesn’t say how much this would cost but suggests you contact the Life in the UK test helpline on 0800 015 4245
I’d also advise contacting the Life in the UK test helpline if you have a diagnosis of dyslexia to ask what extra help, they can offer you.
